Frequently
Asked Questions
Registration and Eligibility
THINGS TO REMEMBER!
What is the skill level for the weekly
tournaments?
Typically the teams that will register are the travel teams from youth leagues that represent their club at regional tournaments. Some clubs will combine players from several travel clubs within their age group to form a new team for participation at Golden Goal. Olympic development or regional select teams would probably have an unfair competitive advantage at Golden Goal tournaments as most teams registering will be representing a club from one particular town or section of a city.
Why register now?
The tournament field complex and residential village space is limited
to 30 teams per weekly session. Since there are dedicated weeks for boys
and girls in U10 through U15 there are not many spaces available for
the more than 300,000 travel soccer teams in the United States. In addition,
youth teams from Canada and foreign countries have expressed interest
in this unique all-inclusive sports park. Registration will be accepted
strictly on a first come, first serve basis.

What
age does my team qualify for during the 2008 summer season?
Whatever age group you play in during the Fall 2007
season will carry over to 2008 Golden Goal tournaments.
Are the tournaments sanctioned?
Yes. We will be sanctioned although Golden Goal will provide complete
back up participation insurance for all participants, coaches and referees.
We are relaxing the guest player rules since this is a summer program.
How can I register my team?
Travel team coaches or managers can register their teams on the registration
page. Coaches can complete the registration form on line and submit via email or they can print out the form, complete the required information, and either mail or fax to Golden Goal.
How is payment made to Golden Goal?
We are asking each travel team coach to assume the responsibility for collecting the registration fee from all players on his/her team and submit to Golden Goal. Payments can be made either by check made payable to Golden Goal or via credit card by submitting the necessary information along with an authorized signature. Credit card information can also be made via the telephone, by calling the Golden Goal office.

Are there any discounts for multiple teams
registering from the same club?

for the teams’ age group by submitting a registration form and a $200
payment for the entire team. The $200 fully refundable deposit will reserve the spot for
30 days when a second payment of $500 is due to continue to reserve the
teams’ participation and then all payments become non-refundable. A 3rd payment of $1,500 is due 30 days later and
final payment is calculated and due 60 days before the tournament begins.

There will also be special programming and dedicated dinning facilities for family members who visit Golden Goal. The Athlete Village will have 24-hour security and following a parent orientation on Saturday each week to help the athletes move in to the Village, parents will not be allowed into the Athlete Village.

What is the maximum amount of players & coaches
that can attend?
Each clubhouse can accommodate a combination of 20 players and coaches. There is a minimum ratio of one coach for every 10 players.
How many Guest Players can be on a roster?
Since we are a summer tournament when many teams do not have their full complement of players available, an unlimited number of guest players are allowed.
Things to Remember
Is the Park Secure?
Security is a primary precaution at Golden Goal. The Park and Athlete Village are continuously patrolled and staffed with 24-hour security staff members. The Athlete Village (with the exception of Saturday morning when parents may assist in the move-in process) is a controlled access venue where only the registered and identified athletes, coaches, and referees may enter. Any team member or coach leaving the park must sign out and all players must be signed out by their coach, parent, or designated guardian.
Does everyone attending need to complete the forms and waivers?
Yes. The necessary background information and waiver forms can be downloaded on the registration
page and reproduced for completion by each player, coach, and guest referee attending Golden Goal. Please contact info@goldengoalsoccer.com or call (888) 860-6311 if you would like us to send enough blank forms for your entire team.
Can players leave the Park?
Yes. Although we are a Licensed New York State Board of Health camp, participants at Golden Goal may be signed out of the park by either the team coach, guardian or their parents to visit the many attractions in Lake George and Saratoga Springs
Should we bring our team uniforms?
Since many teams are proud of their team uniforms, Golden Goal has arranged for each team to be able to wear their own uniform during designated “away” tournament games as well as during the Opening Ceremony. Each participant will also receive a complete, exclusively designed pro-style Golden Goal Pro Elite uniform to be worn at all designated “home” games, during the Closing Ceremony and Hall of Fame Induction/Ring Ceremony. Participants keep their uniform to bring home as a keepsake.

What is included in the player package?
In addition to full clubhouse style lodging and all meals for 6 nights, each participant will receive a host of amenities and merchandise including a World Youth Soccer Hall of Fame Induction Ring, Golden Goal Pro Elite Uniform, Photo keepsake, and Limited Edition Trading Pin. There will also be prizes for team and individual skills contest winners, and trophies/prizes for top teams in each weekly tournament. The Championship teams’ name will be inscribed on the Golden Goal Cup to be permanently housed in the World Youth Soccer Hall of Fame (planned for the Sport Park).
What should each participant bring?
Each cabin is equipped with bunk beds and space for belongings. In addition to all of your usual tournament and practice wear, attire at Golden Goal is very casual and comfortable. In the region it can get chilly (50’s) at night so bring a few heavier items to wear. Also, the summer season does bring rain, so some type of rain gear is helpful. The Athlete Village will be well lit, but as a precaution against power failure you may want to bring a small flashlight. Each person needs to bring sheets (or a sleeping bag to place on top of the bunk bed), a pillow and pillowcase, washcloth and towels. Also toiletries such as liquid soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and shampoo should be brought with a portable carrier to bring to the bathhouses that are adjacent to the clubhouses. The Department of Health mandates that bathing suits and waterproof shower shoes must also be worn to the bathhouses for showers.
How is laundry handled?
Golden Goal will make arrangements for daily laundry wash and fold service for a small weekly charge to have a fresh uniform daily and limit the amount of clothing that you bring. As an alternative, the coach or a parent can visit a nearby Laundromat to handle the laundry needs for the team.
Can coaches leave the park without their team?
Yes. On selected days during the evening activity, coaches are invited to leave the park if they wish with the coach’s “Freedom Pass.” During this time Golden Goal staff members will supervise all of the participants until the coaches return for lights out at 11:00pm.
Besides the tournament games what else is there
to do at Golden Goal?
You can have non-stop action at Golden Goal or relax when you need a little down time. Some of the additional amenities include the Golden Goal Challenge Course, skills contests, team building activities, Golden Goal Arcade filled with challenging and fun video games, music/entertainment, a well-stocked retail store with a full line of Golden Goal apparel and merchandise, practice fields, movie nights, fireworks, special guest speakers, and vending machines.
Why was the Lake George area selected for Golden Gaol?
Golden Goal specifically targeted this region for the creation and operation of the finest youth soccer experience and tournament in the world. Its summer climate is ideal for youth sport participation and has hundreds of attractions and events taking place throughout the summer. Participants, under adult supervision and their families can take a break from all of the activities in the Park and take advantage of the many historic and recreational Adirondack area attractions. We encourage families to join their son or daughter attending a Golden Goal tournament and make this a week-long action packed vacation at one of the most popular summer tourist destinations in the United States.
Will we face many new teams?
Golden Goal is recruiting teams and receiving registration forms from all regions of the United States, Canada, and foreign countries. Each team will be paired with another team in the Athlete Village clubhouses and will be exposed to a tremendous cross-section of teams throughout the park during the week. In fact, we invite you to come and play for a week…the friends and memories will last a lifetime.
Will my team have practice time?
Yes. There are two practice fields that you can schedule time for your team when you arrive and register. In addition, as the tournament moves into the later stages, fields will become available for you to schedule practices or games against teams that you meet at Golden Goal.
Why are we given trading pins?
Many teams have pins that they like to trade with the new friends that they make in the competition setting. At Golden Goal we want to foster the idea of meeting new people and making new friends so we get it started with our distinctive line of trading pins that are suitable for collecting and trading. We invite all participants to bring pins that signify where they are from or symbols of their interest to trade with other participants at Golden Goal.
What if I have to take medication daily or have
a medical problem at the Park?
Golden Goal will have a complete medical facility with 24-hour medical professional staff that will inventory and dispense medication according the label directions. In case of accident, injury, or other medical emergency the highly trained on-site staff are coordinated with Washington County medical facilities that are fully equipped to deal with emergency situations.
