Since many referees have requested to be
part of the Golden Goal experience, we have instituted the Guest Referee
Program that allows referees to join the excitement of the Athlete Village
throughout the tournament week.
In lieu of payment for refereeing the games, guest referees will stay in a clubhouse
in the Athlete Village and have all of their meals provided in the Athlete
Village dining facility. The referees will receive a full uniform and will
officiate 2 games per day on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Guest referees will march in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and receive a
Hall of Fame Induction Ring.
All teams are invited to bring Certified Guest USSF Referees and/or
Cadets to participate in the Guest Referee Program and share in the fun
and excitement of the Golden Goal Soccer Tournaments.
Guest Cadets need to have completed a basic referee course and worked a minimum
of one season of refereeing Soccer games.
About the Games
Golden Goal will be using a 2 referee system
for all pool play games and a 3 referee system for the Championship Playoff
Round. All games will be officiated by a USSF Certified Referee and the
linesman will be Cadets who are diligently working toward certification.
The Certified Referees will serve as mentors for the cadets and review
the game events during a game recap session. All referees will meet with
the Director of Officiating for Golden Goal on a daily basis to review
their assignments and discuss the games officiated.
